Actions

Actions are units of functionality that can be called on demand.
They can be accessed three ways:

  1. Using Show All Actions  (itself an action), which has the default keybinding Ctrl+Shift+z
  2. From Keybindings, with defaults are listed for each.
  3.  with the Action Link syntax

Below is an index of all actions links included with Urtext.


Node Browser - Opens the editor's native dropdown to browse all nodes in the active project.
Open Link - Opens the link at the current cursor position.
Navigate Forward - Navigates forward in the node browsing history (like a web browser).
Project Browser - Opens a list of all active projects.
Insert Link to New Node - Creates a new file node and inserts a link to that node at the cursor.
Browse Backlinks - Opens the Node Browser with a list of all nodes containing links to the current node.
Browse Forward Links - Displays a list of all nodes linked from the current node.
Pop Node - Pops a bracketed node to separate file-level node, replacing it with a pointer.
Insert Link to File - Opens an editor dialog to select and existing file and inserts a File Link at the cursor position.
All Actions in Scratch Buffer - Shows a list of all actions in a scratch buffer, as clickable action links.
Browse Metadata - Browse metadata in the project, with their containing nodes.
Copy Link to Here With Project - Copies a cross-project link to the node containing the cursor to the clipboard.
Copy Link to Here - Copies a link to the node containing the cursor, to the clipboard.
Create Starter Project - Opens a dialog to select a destination folder, and copies the Urtext Starter Project to the folder.
Delete this Buffer - Deletes the current buffer (file) entirely, including all contained nodes.
Go to Frame - With the cursor in any node targeted by a frame, navigates to the frame.
Insert Timestamp - Inserts a timestamp with the current date/time at the cursor.
Link To Node - Inserts a link to the selected node at the cursor position.
Move the Current File to Another Project - Opens a panel or buffer to select another active project to which to move the current file.
New File Node - Creates and opens a new file node.
Node Browser All Projects - Shows a selection panel of all nodes in all active projects
Open Home - Opens the project's home node, if any.
Previous Node - Within a buffer, moves the cursor to and centers the previous node (if any).
Next Node - Within a buffer, moves the cursor to and centers the next node (if any).
Pull Node - Pulls the node referenced by a Pointer into the current buffer, replacing the pointer with the node.
Random Node - Opens a random node in the active project.
Rename All Files - Auto-renames all files in the project.
Rename Single File - Auto-renames the current file.
Show All Actions - Shows a dropdown panel with all Actions.
Show Base Project - Makes the Base Project available in the project list. Normally, it is hidden.
Wrap Selection - Wraps the selected text in bracket (makes it into a bracket node).
Wrap Line - Wraps the line containing the cursor in brackets (makes it into a bracket node).
Navigate Backward - Navigates backward in the node browsing history (like a web browser).
